A place for the bench notes
I've been mending old cassette players and reading the odd box of computer tapes for years, on and off, usually whatever turns up cheap in a car boot or a charity shop. This blog is where my notes go from now on.
The plan is simple: when I mend something, I write down what actually happened, the wrong turns, the wins, and the triumphs. When I image a box of tapes I'll let you know what I find. If you fix this stuff too, maybe it saves you ten minutes. If not, it'll hopefully stop me forgetting what I did last time.
The Mrs reckons it's a waste of a perfectly good spare room. One of us will be proved right.
First up, once I get a minute: a cassette deck that doesn't play, and a box of Spectrum tapes that need imaging before the oxide erodes away. More soon.
Cheers, Steve
